In recognition of World Teacher Day, Qatar Airways is offering 21,000 free round trip tickets anywhere in their network for teachers. This promo requires registration today or tomorrow (by 4am October 7th Doha time) and some luck (it looks like it is more or less a lottery), so it is best viewed as a free lottery rather than a guaranteed free trip. For members new to Qatar Airways Privilege Club, you can get 2,021 free miles when signing up using promo code 2021.

How to pronounce Qatar

The Deal

  • Qatar Airways is offering 21,000 free tickets for teachers in recognition of World Teacher Day. Registration is required and the promo is limited, so registration won’t guarantee you a code, but if you get a code you will get:
    – A complimentary Economy Class ticket to any of Qatar’s destinations around the world, so you can experience a well-deserved holiday.
    – 50% off a future flight with Qatar Airways to use for yourself, a friend or a family member.
  • Direct link to this offer

Quick Thoughts

This promo isn’t entirely clear to me: it says that a fresh allocation of codes will be made each day at 4am Doha time, but do you need to register again or are they going to just send out codes each day at 4am to randomly selected registrants? The terms don’t make it particularly clear.

Doctor of Credit notes that Qatar ran a similar promotion for first responders with a hundred thousand free tickets and it sounds like it was almost impossible to get those. With this promo being even more limited, I’d not count on it — but for free, it might be worth throwing your hat in the ring if you qualify.

Note that the free round trip ticket will still be subject to taxes, but not carrier-imposed surcharges, so it should be pretty cheap. Of course, this is long-haul economy and nobody knows what the travel landscape will look like a year from now, but a free trip may nonetheless be worthwhile.
