The premium economy fares to Asia certainly don’t look bad, with Hong Kong available for $999 and several other cities available for $1299 round trip.
But for those looking for business class, the $1995 round trip fare to Frankfurt may be the most appealing deal. Availability is wide open in the summer months.
I’m not sure whether or not Singapore will have their new business class on this route, but either way it will be on an A380 and feature a very wide seat. The good news is that these fares are widely available through the OTA of your choice. They are also available via the Chase travel portal. If you have decided that the Sapphire Reserve is a better value for you (See: Showdown: Sapphire Reserve vs Preferred First Year Value), you’ll be happy to see that CSR holders can use Ultimate Rewards at 1.5c each and pay less than 133,000 points round trip:
That’s an awesome deal. Singapore Krisflyer normally charges 65,000 miles each way for saver business class — 130K round trip + ~$47 in taxes. With this sale, you don’t need to rely on saver award space. Furthermore, you can earn 200% mileage flown if credited to Alaska Airlines.
That means you should earn about 15,000 redeemable miles if credited to Alaska, making this a very nice deal indeed.
These are some excellent fares to both Asia and Europe, though the business class fare from New York to Frankfurt looks particularly appealing. For about the same number of points as an award ticket, you get to pick your dates without being limited to award availability while also earning valuable miles with Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. While not everyone is impressed with Singapore’s new business class seats, I think it’d be easy to be pretty happy with either the old or new seats at this price.
