I know that everybody is talking about the Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones that everyone has on sale for $199 today. I own a set of Bose headphones and they are incredibly comfortable, so I can understand the enthusiasm. However, there is potentially an even hotter deal today for those who aren’t looking to spend quite so much on headphones if you’re targeted for one of many different stacking deals at Amazon: the Sony wireless bluetooth over the ear noise cancelling headphones model WHCH710N (with mic for phone calls).
A best price today
When it comes to special sales like Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, it can be hard to weed through the noise and determine which deals are actually deals and which are just marketing the everyday price as though it’s a deal.
The good news is that we can easily tell the difference on Amazon deals thanks to a website called camelcamelcamel. The three camels track Amazon prices over time so you can see the high price, low price, and average price of an item over time. In this case, we can easily see that these Sony noise-cancelling bluetooth headphones are a great deal today. All you have to do is copy and paste the item URL into the search box at camelcamelcamel (click the image below to go to camelcamelcamel.com if it’s hard to read).
It shows that the highest price on these headphones as been $198 and the lowest has been $98, with the average at $185.90. Note that I believe the reason the chart doesn’t show today’s $88 price is because it is a Prime-exclusive deal — as you can see, these headphones have been $198 since September 30, 2020. It’s the same story in the blue color. That makes the current $88 price point a great deal.

Stacking to make it even better
It gets even better if you’re targeted for any of these offers:
- Targeted Amazon offer w/ 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards point ($15 off of $50)
- Targeted Amazon offers w/ 1 Membership Rewards point (up to $20 off $80)
- Targeted offer to add a debit card as a payment method and get a $25 promotional credit (you may see this offer on a product page or during the checkout process by clicking to change your payment method)
- Spend $80+ & save $20 when redeeming at least 1 Capital One point
- Targeted Amazon offer w/ 1 Citi ThankYou point ($20 off of $50)
I am personally targeted for a couple of those. By applying 1 Citi ThankYou point, the pretax total came down to $68 ($73.44 with tax).
That is more than 30% off the cheapest price ever on Amazon according to CamcelCamelCamel and an excellent price for a set of bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones that get excellent reviews. Perhaps they aren’t as good as the Bose headphones, but for a third of the price maybe they don’t have to be.
These headphones are also on sale elsewhere
Note that in our full Prime Day deals, stacking opportunities, and competitor deals post, you’ll see that Best Buy is also carrying these for the same price (our affiliate link). It looks like B&H Photo also has them and likely a few other stores as well, so if you have gift cards or other offers to use elsewhere, it’s worth looking around. However, I think Amazon presents the best deal for those who can use one of the stacking discounts.
The purpose of this post is three-fold: first, I know that many travelers like noise-cancelling headphones (and I know that not everyone wants to spend $200 on a pair). Second, I wanted to take a quick second to remind readers of CamelCamelCamel as a resource to see price history before jumping on a deal. Third, it’s a good reminder to stack those extra dollar-off deals. In fact, you could do a bit better: I had reloaded my Amazon gift card balance with $40 this morning to get a future $10 promotional credit. It would allow me to apply that reloaded credit to this purchase. All that said, I don’t need headphones right now, so I’m not buying but rather illustrating a good deal.
