(EXPIRED) Stacking for a great deal on Sam’s Club membership

There are a couple of nice stacking deals for new Sam’s Club members that are pretty attractive if you’d like to have a membership. Right now, there is an offer for the $45 membership that includes: a $25 Vudu movie credit, $10 Sam’s Club e-gift card, and a Family Pizza Combo that includes a 16″ Pizza Baked Fresh in Club, 2 Liter of Coca-Cola or Diet Coke, 6 chocolate chunk cookies, and 1 order of cheesy breadsticks with marinara. What’s more, this should stack with an Acorns offer to get $20 invested when you open a new Sam’s Club membership by May 14, 2018. That’s a pretty awesome stack.

The Deal

  • Buy a Sam’s Club membership for $45 and get:
    • 1 year Sam’s Club membership
    • $10 Sam’s Club e-Gift card
    • $25 Vudu movie credit
    • 16″ Pizza Baked Fresh in Club
    • 2 Liter of Coca-Cola or Diet Coke
    • 6 Chocolate Chunk Cookies
    • 1 Order of Cheesy Breadsticks with Marinara
  • Direct link for Sam’s Club membership
  • Stack this with Acorns “Found Money” to get $20 invested in your Acorns account when you pay for your new membership with a linked credit or debit card (Note that this must be done by midnight Pacific time on May 14, 2018)

Key Terms

  • Sam’s Club membership offer is valid until June 7, 2018
  • Acorns offer for $20 invested expires May 14, 2018 at midnight Pacific time

Quick Thoughts

As noted at the top, what makes this particularly notable is that Acorns is offering an incresed amount of “Found Money” for new Sam’s Club members: get $20 invested when you open a new Sam’s Club membership by May 14, 2018 and pay with a linked credit or debit card.

So if you stack both offers, this is what you get for $45:

  • 1 year Sam’s Club membership
  • $20 invested in your Acorns account
  • $10 Sam’s Club e-Gift card
  • $25 Vudu movie credit
  • 16″ Pizza Baked Fresh in Club
  • 2 Liter of Coca-Cola or Diet Coke
  • 6 Chocolate Chunk Cookies
  • 1 Order of Cheesy Breadsticks with Marinara

I’d call that a pretty nice win. You can cash out the $20 from Acorns and a Sam’s Club gift card normally also works at Walmart – though I’m not absolutely positive in this case as the terms state that the eGC is loaded to your Sam’s Club account, so it may be tied to Sam’s Club. Nonetheless, with the range of discounted gift cards for sale at Sam’s Club, that $10 is as good as cash to me one way or another. Paying a net $15 for the Vudu movie credit and the pizza combo would be a slick deal on its own – it’s even better when you include the 1-year membership.

While I don’t have a Sam’s Club near me, I still have a membership because there is almost always a deal or two that becomes resellable — whether popular items around the holidays or gift card deals or Amex Offers, I find myself getting a new membership each year (usually rotating between my better half and I).

While it’s not much, Acorns also offers $1 in found money when you spend $50 or more at Sam’s Club, so if you intend to do your shopping there, you’ll want to use a linked card to pick up an extra buck.

Stephen has written pretty extensively about Acorns found money (see his posts: Get Free Money From Acorns Found Money & Boost Your Savings and 60+ retailers where Acorns Found Money offers the highest cashback for more on the value of Acorns Found Money). This is yet another good example of how you can make out pretty well with it.

Acorns wouldn’t be my main long-term investing plan, but with the ways Stephen has shown to get free money without even spending through some of the Found Money options, you can mitigate the fees for quite a while, making opportunities like the Sam’s Club membership worth their full face value. If you don’t yet have an Acorns account, feel free to sign up using one of our links and both you get $5 for signing up.

I remember HAVING to get a Sam’s Club membership a couple of years ago for a crazy AMEX Offer deal, but otherwise I wouldn’t take one for free. What a horrible store. In general, I think these warehouse clubs offer terrible deals — unless you live in a place where groceries are expensive, like Alaska or Hawaii — but obviously somebody belongs. I doubt many gamers shop in these stores, though. Prices are usually “meh” at best, and the sizes you have to buy are inconvenient. So why bother?
