Starting tomorrow (September 1), Staples is selling $200 Visa gift cards with no activation fee. This is therefore another great opportunity to rack up some 5x spend at office supply stores if you have an Ink Plus or Ink Cash card.

Quick Thoughts
$200 Visa gift cards usually have a $6.95 activation fee, so that’s the amount being waived with this promotion. It’s therefore not quite as good of a deal as when Staples and Office Depot offer a $15 instant discount as that makes them slightly profitable, but it’s still a good deal nonetheless, especially if you have a Chase Ink Plus or Ink Cash card.
That’s because those cards earn 5x/5% at office supply stores, so you’ll earn 1,000 Ultimate Rewards or $10 for every $200 card you buy. In theory there’s a limit of 1 per customer, but it should be possible to buy more than that over the course of the week.
If you don’t have one of those Ink cards, a good alternative would be an Amex card with one of the two versions of the latest Staples Amex Offer loaded to it.

This promotion doesn’t worth it anymore. At least in my area, I have 10 Staples, and they only allow you to buy one GC per week.
Are you not able to visit the stores on different days or at different times so that you can buy more than one?
I can visit the stores, and I have lost four trips already because the Managers are keeping the cards inside their offices and they recognized me. I usually go at 8 AM and then at 6 PM, I figured out that Managers work for more than 10 hours. The game in Staples has become against us. I’d rather Office Depot/Max promotions.

My good source for offloading VGCs just dried up. And Wally World in my area doesn’t accept them for what I want to buy. Any suggestions other than ordinary spend? Thx.
