Business class to China from $1500’s to $1800’s round trip (all alliances)

One day in Beijing

God Save the Points has reported some excellent fares for business class travel to China on all three major alliances. Availability is tight, with the best fares mostly available at the end of December or the end of January, but for those who are interested in a winter visit to China the price is right. It is also a great opportunity for those with Platinum cards to be able to take advantage of Amex’s International Airline…

Business Platinum card losing Gogo, WeWork, Premium Roadside assistance, & Boingo in 2020

The Business Platinum Card from American Express will be losing four key benefits in 2020. Hopefully we’ll see Amex add something to replace these. Benefits being removed as of 1/1/20 are: 10 annual GoGo passes (unused passes in your account will expire on 12/31/19) WeWork membership (you can enroll for a free year until 12/31/19 — after that, you will no longer be able to enroll) Premium roadside assistance (no longer a benefit on 1/1/20) Boingo (membership…

A profitable stack at Dell (sort of)

We recently reported a targeted current Amex Offer available on some business cards that is good for 10% back at Dell. Those who found the offer on a Business Platinum card could make out even better since that card offers a twice-annual $100 credit for Dell purchases (subject to registration, available once between January and June and once between July and December). You could currently do some stacking with those discounts that turns at least one deal into…

[Clawed back] Stack it: 10% back at Dell with new offer, look to stack with $100 back

Update: It turns out that these offers can not be stacked, with some people reporting that Amex has clawed back the 10% from the Amex Offer when stacking both benefits — even after the account was closed in some cases. That’s both surprising and disappointing since the credits are automatic, meaning that there is no opportunity to choose which you’d like to receive. At any rate, don’t expect to get both credits. There’s a new targeted Amex…

(EXPIRED) 100K Membership Rewards points w/ new referral offer

There is a newly-increased offer on the Business Platinum Card from American Express that is only available via referral and is good for up to 100,000 Membership Rewards points, though it requires heavy spend: get 50K points after $10K spend in the first 3 months plus an additional 50K points after an additional $15K spend in the first 3 months. That’s only an increase of $5K in the spending component over the more typical offer. While that’s…

[Expired] Biz Class Houston to Milan from $1673.93 round trip (maybe less?)

An email just hit my inbox from Thrifty Traveler Premium about a fare sale first reported by Mighty Travels at FlyerTalk: British Airways and American Airlines are offering some terrific business class fares during peak summer travel dates between Houston and Milan, with prices from $1813 round trip. When I saw that sale my first thought was that it can get even better: AARP members (anyone can join cheaply) can save even more, bringing the total down to $1673.93. If…

Changes coming to Biz Platinum: higher fee, Dell credit, and more

American Express has sent out an email to Business Platinum cardholders advising them of changes coming to that card in 2019, including an increased annual fee of $595, Dell statement credits, an increased hotel credit on bookings through The Hotel Collection, and more. My first instinct is that these changes likely are not positive for most cardholders considering the 32% increase in the annual fee. New Additions New additions coming to the Business Platinum card in 2019 include:…

Awesome: Cross-brand Amex referrals now possible

As reported by Doctor of Credit, there has been a major change in the way that Amex referrals work, and it is awesome. In the past, one was only able to refer others to a card that you carried — that is to say that if you had a Blue Cash Preferred card, you could refer people to open the Blue Cash Preferred and earn a bonus for that referral only if they opened a…
