Keep or cancel? Paring down a premium card collection

Last week, I wrote a post about considering which ultra-premium credit cards to keep (those with annual fees of $350 or more). That post inspired Greg to make an awesome spreadsheet for evaluating your ultra-premium cards (See: Your turn: Which Ultra Premium Cards are Keepers?). I initially set out this week to do a similarly mathematical analysis of my current collection of premium cards — those with annual fees around $100. I played with spreadsheets…

A JetBlue stacking opportunity hiding in plain sight?

In a presentation I’ve done at conferences about tools to be used to find great deals, one of the things I always suggest is to read the comments on blog posts. People often share their findings and experience with various deals and angles. Sometimes, through the collective experience of the Internet, you’ll stumble on great ideas you hadn’t considered. Just last week I stumbled on such a gem regarding the rebates on the JetBlue Plus and JetBlue Business…

(EXPIRED) $15 statement credit for adding an AU on Wyndham Visa [Targeted]

Barclays has sent out what I imagine is a targeted email offer to earn a $15 statement credit after adding an authorized user on a Wyndham Rewards Visa account. In my case, I’m betting I have received this offer as the annual fee is due to post on this account soon. It wouldn’t be surprising if this kind of offer may also be available on other cards around renewal time as Barclays often sends out offers to…

(EXPIRED) 50K after 1st purchase with Aviator Business

The Barclays Aviator Business card has had a limited-time offer of 50,000 American Airlines miles after first purchase that was thought to be scheduled to end on July 29th, 2018. However, that offer is still available. While some people find American Airlines miles more useful than others (see this past weekend’s week in review around the web for some good uses), fifty thousand miles after a single purchase is a good deal even if you find…

Arrival Premier waives fee, adding partners

Barclays Arrival Premier

Barclays has made a key update to the Arrival Premier card, waiving the $150 annual fee for the first year. Additionally, View from the Wing reports that Barclays is planning to add two new transfer partners by the end of July. While those partners — Finnair and Alitalia — are not wildly exciting options (and surely won’t be 1:1 transfers), he also reports that there is another more interesting partner in the works. The Deal Barclays Arrival Premier…

(EXPIRED) Wyndham 45K offer is back

The offer for 45,000 total Wyndham Rewards points has returned once again on the $75-fee version of the Wyndham Rewards Visa from Barclays. This offer comes and goes, but it is the highest offer we see on this card. Since Wyndham Rewards charges 15,000 points per night for award stays at all properties, this offer is worth up to three free nights at any Wyndham property worldwide. Further, the points can be useful when transferred to La Quinta…

Re-launched Arrival Plus: 60K offer (worth $600 toward travel)

The Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard has arrived on the scene once again, this time with a highest-ever 60,000 point welcome bonus after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days. While that is the highest introductory offer ever on this card, note that the $89 annual fee is not waived the first year this time around. Still, this is a great intro offer on a popular card that many will be glad to see return after a hiatus. We…

Aeroplan newest transfer partner for Arrival Premier

amex offers

Barclays has added a new transfer partner for the Arrival Premier: Aeroplan. This is an interesting addition, and probably not in the way that Barclays would have hoped. Considering the fact that Aeroplan will cease to be the loyalty program of Air Canada in 2020, and there are cards that earn more Aeroplan miles with a lower fee on the market, adding Aeroplan as a transfer partner isn’t much of an improvement. However, on the bright…
