Park Hyatt Washington DC. Bottom line review.

The Park Hyatt Washington in Washington, DC is a Category 5 World of Hyatt property, which makes it a less appealing option for those looking to burn a Cat 1-4 free night certificate on a trip to Washington, However, given cheap weekend rates, this can be a great option for a paid stay via Hyatt Privé given the excellent benefits provided on paid stays booked through Privé. Park Hyatt Washington DC Bottom Line Review In my recent post on Hyatt…

Kimpton Seafire Grand Cayman. Bottom Line Review.

The Kimpton Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman is an IHG property.  We stayed 3 nights using three separate uncapped IHG free night certificates (mine, my wife’s, and another family member’s).  Unfortunately, uncapped IHG free nights are no longer available through IHG credit cards. Instead, this resort is available for 70,000 IHG points per night.  Cash rates range from about $700 to well over $1,000 per night.  For details about how I booked our flights to…

Ventana Big Sur Hyatt. Bottom Line Review: Awesome

Ventana Big Sur is an adults-only resort in Big Sur California.  Ventana is part of Hyatt’s Alila luxury brand and currently the only Alila property in the United States (although a second Alila is being developed in Encinatas, north of San Diego).  We stayed four nights in early March and paid 30,000 points per night.  A friend with Globalist status booked our stay for us as a Guest of Honor reservation.  This gave us all…

Grand Hyatt New York. Bottom Line Review.

Go figure. Still, here are my thoughts on the Grand Hyatt. The Grand Hyatt New York Bottom Line Review…

Carmel Valley Ranch Hyatt Unbound Collection. Bottom Line Review.

Carmel Valley Ranch, Hyatt Unbound Collection is an all-suites resort in Carmel Valley, California.  We stayed 3 nights in the off-season (February) at a cash rate of slightly over $300 per night through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts.  By booking this way, we received early check-in, $100 property credit, $60 per day breakfast credit, and a room upgrade. Carmel Valley Ranch Bottom Line Review Excellent high-end yet unpretentious California resort.  My wife and I thoroughly…

The Notary Hotel Philadelphia, Autograph Collection (Marriott). Bottom Line Review.

The Notary Hotel, located in Philadelphia, PA, is a Marriott category 5 hotel… for the moment.  On March 4th this hotel will bump up to category 6.  Nick and I stayed here for the latest FM to Go for 2 nights.  I checked in early and took the only already clean room (two Queen beds) and Nick later checked into his King bed room.  We booked a AAA “Hot Rate” of $145 per night. The…

The Artisan D.C. Hotel Bogotá is an Autograph Collection hotel which, in turn, is one of Marriott’s many brands.  I recently used points to book two rooms (one for me and one for my mom) for five nights at this Bogotá hotel. The Artisan D.C. Hotel Bogotá Bottom Line Review My mom and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel.  The staff were fantastic.  The rooms were very nice.  Elite recognition was very good.  Breakfast…
