160K Ultimate Rewards vs 200K Capital One “Miles”: Which is the best big bonus?

Last night on Twitter, a reader posted the question: Which offer is better for $50K in spend: the 200K offer available at the time of writing on the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business card or the targeted 160K Ultimate Rewards points offer that’s available on the Chase Ink Business Preferred card (by targeted mailer only)? I’ll admit that for a second, I almost said Ultimate Rewards without thinking about it. Then I quickly thought…

This is a story of courage and bravery, love and loss, tragedy and excitement…  Just kidding.  It’s not any of those things…  But it is a story about seemingly unattainable goals and persistence in the face of repeated obstacles.  Will the hero in this story win out? Thanks to the 40K to Far Away Challenge the Frequent Miler team has been more motivated than ever to find great ways to eke out value from our…

Chase Adds Emirates Skywards As Transfer Partner

Chase Ultimate Rewards Emirates

One of the best features of Chase Ultimate Rewards is the ability to transfer points to airlines and hotel programs. That list has expanded to 10 airlines as Emirates Skywards has been added as a new transfer partner. I’m not entirely sure when Emirates was added as an Ultimate Rewards transfer partner, but it’s likely to have been either today or in the last couple of days. You can now transfer points on a 1:1…

[Update 8/5/19] This deal is back (and targeted) again. It was live a few days ago and is live a second time for those targeted. (H/T: Miles to Memories) Update 6/9/19: According to Doctor of Credit, more people are being targeted for this offer, so it’s worth checking if you weren’t able to take advantage of this deal last time. Be sure to keep an eye on the checkout total though. I was targeted last time…

How to book the cheapest flights with Chase Ultimate Rewards

Google Flights makes it easy to find super cheap airfare deals like the one pictured above.  Within Google Flights, simply enter your origin city and departure date and then enter a region as a destination (“Europe,” for example) and then you’ll be presented with a map showing low fares. Those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card may then want to book these flights with Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  The reason?  The Sapphire Reserve card gives…

Chase Ultimate Rewards sweet spots

Update 7/22/19: We have added Australia / New Zealand / Oceania and a table of contents for easy reference and trip planning. When I ask readers about their favorite award currency, Chase Ultimate Rewards is often a #1 pick. That’s true due to an abundance of excellent transfer partners. Shortly after we made major changes to our Reasonable Redemption Values (See: A big change to Frequent Miler’s point values.), we published a post on easy…

Get IHG qualifying points from Chase transfer

IHG Rewards Club Spire Elite Status

There used to be a loophole for earning IHG status whereby one could transfer points from a bank to Virgin Atlantic miles and then transfer 1:1 from Virgin Atlantic to IHG and the points would count as “qualifying points” for the purposes of earning elite status. That stopped working last year. However, No Mas Coach reports that transfers from Chase Ultimate Rewards post as qualifying points. While that’s only really exciting if you’re somewhere close to elite status already…

Earn 500 easy Ultimate Rewards points w/ tap-to-pay [YMMV / Targeted?]

Chase is out with an offer that may be targeted to earn 500 Ultimate Rewards points when you use tap to pay 3 times for purchases of $1.75 or more between June 27, 2019 and July 31, 2019. It’s not clear whether or not this is targeted; we had a reader report this morning from a Freedom Unlimited cardholder and then Stephen received it on his Freedom card. The email indicates that no registration is necessary.…

Greg’s Chase Ultimate Rewards battle plans

The 40K to Far Away challenge is on! Nick, Stephen, and I each have a budget of 40K points and $400 to go as far away as we can.  Nick is working with Citi ThankYou points, Stephen is working with Amex Membership Rewards points, and I have Chase Ultimate Rewards points. The rules of this game are purposely unclear (see the original post for details), but I plan to win.  As Nick pointed out yesterday,…
