Hilton’s sleight of hand: watch your cancellation deadline

Stephen recently wrote about Marriott’s Sleight of Hand in how they presented their new award chart changes (See: Marriott’s Sleight of Hand: Category Changes Worse Than Advertised). Hilton recently nearly pulled a fast one on one of my reservations (in a completely different way) before swooping in with what they presented as a customer service win. In the end, I learned a lesson: monitor the cancellation deadline on your reservations. A hot deal, booked far in…

Here’s A List Of All The 10,000 Point Hilton Properties In The US

Map of Hilton Honors 10,000 Point Properties In The US

When the Hilton Honors program changed in February 2017, one of the most notable changes was that they did away with categories and moved to (somewhat) dynamic pricing. Prior to that, it had been fairly easy to find out which properties fell under which category, even though the category listings were spread over multiple pages and the interface was ugly. The February 2017 changes eliminated that functionality. As Hilton no longer has categories, there’s no…

Hilton program changes: a net win

This morning, Greg wrote a post about whether or not you should cancel your Hilton card ahead of the big changes coming to the credit card lineup (See: Should you cancel your Hilton card before January 18th?). The credit cards aren’t the only big change coming for Hilton Honors — Hilton has announced some changes to the Hilton Honors loyalty program. When programs announce changes, they almost always present poor value. In this case, Hilton has…

One of his predictions was that Marriott would offer breakfast for Gold & Platinum elites at resorts, which have historically been excluded from the elite free breakfast benefit. Another chain which has historically limited its elite breakfast benefit is Hilton — though as of yesterday, Hilton has expanded that benefit: Hilton Gold & Diamond elite members will now receive free continental breakfast (or…

Hilton free night certs

Earlier this week, American Express began to offer a 33% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors.
