[Time to hop on board] From zero to hero on the status-match-go-round

If you followed this post last year and matched from some other hotel status to Wyndham Diamond to Caesars Diamond, it’s time to match back from Caesars Diamond to Wyndham Diamond. While I matched to Wyndham Diamond last year, it was a temporary challenge. I did not complete the necessary nights and thus my status dropped to “Blue” (general member) in late summer. My Caesars status stuck as was expected (that status expires at the…

Manufacturing Hyatt Globalist Status

In my opinion, Hyatt offers the best top-tier elite perks of any hotel chain.  Hyatt also arguably offers the best redemption options of any major chain thanks to having a reasonably priced award chart and the ability to book upgrades such as as club access, suites, and premium suites with points.  The only area where other chains have a big advantage is with the number of hotels available: Hyatt is tiny compared to Marriott, Hilton,…

[More properties added] Extra 500 Hyatt points per night at select properties

Update 12/5/19: republishing this as I just noticed that quite a few very useful properties properties have been added in recent weeks, including the Hyatt Place New York Times Square, the new all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic (which hasn’t gotten rave reviews initially, but I imagine will improve) and a few Park Hyatt properties. It’s worth checking the list periodically for new properties added. (H/T: Loyalty Lobby) Hyatt is offering an extra 500 bonus points at select…

Hyatt devaluation: peak & off-peak pricing in 2020

Hyatt announced a couple of significant changes today. First, starting in March 2020, they will introduce peak and off-peak pricing on all types of redemptions (standard rooms, club rooms, suites, etc). They will additionally introduce the ability to redeem points for dining & spa experiences on-property at potentially much better value if you’re spending a lot at once. While I’d label the changes as “less bad than I was expecting”, these are clearly still a…

Searching for Hyatt SLH extreme luxury

Luxury Hyatt suites for cash + 9K points per night. How exciting is that?

A couple of months ago, Greg wrote an awesome post about booking luxury Hyatt suites for really reasonable points prices in some cases (See: Finding extreme luxury in Hyatt Premium Suites). Then, last week, Charlie at Running With Miles uncovered what can be another gem: it is possible to book a standard cash rate and then upgrade to a premium suite for 9K points per night on top of the cash rate. That sounded awesome…
