Marriott Best Rate Guarantee Now Offers 5,000 Points Or 25% Off

JW-Marriott-Los-Cabos-Beach-Resort-Spa

The Marriott Best Rate Guarantee (aka their Look No Further Guarantee) used to only offer 25% off the matching rate. They’ve now introduced an additional option – 5,000 Marriott Rewards Points. To take advantage of their Look No Further Guarantee, you have to book your accommodation directly with Marriott, either on their website, by calling their telephone reservations team or visiting one of their hotels. If you find a lower rate for the same hotel,…

Earn Up To 50,000 Points With Marriott Rewards Reward A Friend

Marriott Rewards Reward A Friend

During a recent stay at a Residence Inn, I found a flyer offering bonus Marriott Rewards points for referring friends. I’d initially assumed it was for referring them to the Chase Marriott Rewards credit card, but it was actually for referring them to the Marriott Rewards loyalty scheme itself. It turns out that this offer’s been around a long time (Greg mentions it here). It doesn’t seem to be well publicized though, so here’s how…

Huge Devaluation – Marriott Announces 2018 Category Changes

JW Marriott Washington DC

Following on from SPG’s 2018 category changes, Marriott have announced theirs and it’s a shocker. More than four times as many properties are moving up a category than are moving down. You can find the full list of changes here, but be warned – it’s not pretty. 1,082 properties are moving up a category while only 247 properties are moving down. There is a silver lining of sorts in that there are no properties moving…

Why are Marriott Travel Packages a good deal?

We recently posted a quick deal because availability for the JW Marriott Phu Quoc is wide open for 2018, and we noted that it is a great option for a 7-night Marriott Travel Package. A reader later wrote to ask a question that comes up every now and then: Why are Marriott Travel Packages a good deal? More specifically, they asked: Why do you say the Marriott Travel Package is a really good deal? Seven nights…

[Expired] 30% transfer bonus from Marriott to AA…probably not worth it

When we posted about the current Aeroplan transfer bonus earlier today, I was reminded that the Aeroplan transfer bonus isn’t the first time recently that Marriott Travel Packages have been excluded from a transfer bonus promotion. There is also a promotion going on to convert Marriott Rewards points to American Airlines AAdvantage miles that excludes travel packages. This bonus began on October 21st and runs through December 5th. While it is “old news”, we wanted…

You can now earn Marriott points for shopping online (but I probably won’t)

Marriott Rewards has announced Marriott Rewards MORE, which resembles a shopping portal, though it’s actually a browser toolbar, and for that reason I probably won’t be using it. There is an app, too — but there’s some bad news with that also. On the bright side, Marriott is offering 1,000 bonus points for signing up and using this new program to make a first purchase of $25 or more. More on what it is and where and how…

Ammo for the secret weapon: Up to 45K annually

This morning, Greg announced the addition of a new resource page: Starwood Transfers: Best, Rest, and the Secret Weapon. Spoiler alert! The Secret Weapon is Marriott and Beyond – which heralds the strength of SPG points with regard to booking Marriott stays and the strength of Marriott Rewards points when used towards Marriott Travel Packages. If you’re building towards either, you may be interested in the latest from Marriott’s social media team: the chance to…

Marriott promo: 30% off room & food and beverage in Africa and Middle East

Marriott has a nice offer with some very attractive rates in Africa and the Middle East — with 30% off room rates and 30% off food and non-alcoholic beverages. Note that the food & beverage discount applies to “participating restaurants & lounges only” and does not include room service. Still, the list of participating properties is pretty extensive — if you have an upcoming trip to the Middle East or Africa, this promo is worth a look. The…
