A new 30% transfer bonus launched today to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, this time from Citi ThankYou points. That’s great news for those looking to top off a Flying Club account for a valuable award. The timing is excellent as there is also a 30% bonus running from Amex Membership Rewards, so you have plenty of options for topping off a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account.

  • Get a 30% transfer bonus when transferring Citi ThankYou points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles

Key Terms

  • Must transfer in increments of 1000 points (1000 points = 1300 miles)
  • Valid for transfers through October 13th 2018

Quick Thoughts

This transfer bonus is well-timed since it joins the current transfer bonus from Membership Rewards in offering a 30% premium on your points when converted to Virgin Atlantic miles. This makes it all the easier to accumulate the points you need for valuable award.

As we previously noted in the post about the transfer bonus from Membership Rewards, Virgin Atlantic is a niche program that has some really valuable award sweet spots. The most notable and most commonly cited sweet spot is ANA First Class Awards to Japan at 120K round trip from the East Coast or 110K round trip from the West Coast, which require fewer than 93000 transferred points with the bonus. Delta One awards to Europe can also be a fantastic value. Direct flights ring in at 50,000 Virgin Atlantic miles one way, requiring a transfer of fewer than 40,000 ThankYou points thanks to the bonus.

With the current offer on the Citi ThankYou Premier card being good for 60,000 points after meeting minimum spend, many readers might be in position to be able to take good advantage of this offer. In fact, that offer gives you enough points for a round trip business class ticket to Europe and Delta one after the bonus. Add on the fact the Delta saver availability is sometimes easier to find with Virgin Atlantic than what Delta itself and you have a recipe for a nice opportunity.

As always, we have added this offer to our database of Current point transfer bonuses.
