FM Mini Review: One of the best all-around travel rewards cards: Very strong earnings for spend. Excellent bonus categories. Points transferable to select airlines.

Card Type: Mastercard World Elite

Earning rate: ⚬ 3X travel and gas ⚬ 2X dining and entertainment

Noteworthy perks: With this card, ThankYou points become worth 1.25 cents each towards travel; or transfer points to airline partners

Overview

The Citi ThankYou Premier card arguably offers one of the best collections of travel related category bonuses: Earn 3X points for all travel, 3X for gas, and 2X for dining and entertainment. It is also the best card to use for redeeming ThankYou points for non-airfare travel since it offers 1.25 cents value towards hotels, cruises, etc. The higher-end Citi Prestige card has fewer 3X categories and only offers 1 cent per point value when redeeming for non-airfare travel.

Overall, if you're looking for a single great travel rewards card, the Citi Premier card ought to be considered. Personally, I prefer the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, but the Citi Premier has some advantages over Chase's card: lower annual fee, no fee for authorized users, 3X gas and 2X entertainment.
