Quick Thoughts

Hotels.com gift cards go on sale at this price on and off at a variety of merchants. The nice thing about them is that they can easily be combined online into one gift card, making for an easy 20% savings on a future stay if you accumulate a number of these cards over time. If you have the current Amex Offer for 2,000 points on $50+ in purchases, remember that this total is cumulative between now and the end of 2017 — meaning that you could buy one of these cards and then spend $10 later and trigger that offer. That makes this an even better deal!

Keep in mind that stays booked through a 3rd party like Hotels.com will not typically earn elite credit or points and will not qualify for loyaty benefits (like free Wi-Fi, breakfast, room upgrades, etc). Still, Hotels.com can come in particularly handy if you like to (or travel plans dictate that you need to) stay at unique/non-chain properties and/or if elite/loyalty benefits do not matter to you.

  1. Samsung Pay is running a gift card promotion as well. You can buy $25 Hotels.com (20% off), $50 Airbnb (10% off) and $100 Southwest (10%) among others. You can buy 2 cards per day until promotion ends up to $500 total value. Easy way to stock up if you are looking to, assuming you have a compatible Samsung device.

  2. Oh look, a paid advertisement by Amazon.com. Affiliate link disclosed but no mention of the better offer link (jetblue). This blog has fallen so far.
