Big discounts on Google Express

There are two great deals available to score big discounts on Google Express — via both Discover Deals and Groupon. The Groupon below is for new members only, but Discover Deals is offering 25% back (on several orders, should double if you’re in your first year) and this will work with existing accounts. Unfortunately, the Discover deal is targeted. Read on for more.

Groupon

The Deal

  • $15 for $40 towards first purchase at Google Express
  • Save even more with coupon codes (these are targeted and didn’t work for me, but may for you):
    TAKE50 ($7.50 after coupon)
    WELCOME ($11.25 after coupon)
    HURRY20 ($12 after coupon)
  • Direct link to Groupon

Key Terms

  • For new customers only
  • Coupon only applies to first purchase (so make sure you spend at least $40 on your first purchase)
  • Promotional value expires August 31, 2017
  • Can buy 1 for yourself and 1 as a gift (2 total)

Quick Thoughts

Go through a shopping portal to drop the net cost even further (best I see right now is 8% I believe). Check your zip code here to see which stores are available in your area. You may get same-day delivery, overnight, or up to 3 days depending on your area. These are stores it showed available in my (rural) area (1-3 days shipping for me):

As a new customer, you’ll get a free 3-month trial membership. Members get free shipping on orders of $15 or more. Non-members pay $4.99 for shipping on orders of $15 or more.

There are some great deals to be had on essentials at many of those stores with this deal.

Discover Deals

Some Discover card holders have been targeted for 25% Cashback Bonus on each of your next three purchases, with a maximum of $150 back (up to $600 in combined purchases). If you are in your first year of card membership, that amount should double at the end of the year for a total of 50% back. That is terrific. Unfortunately, I was not targeted. According to Doctor of Credit, some people were targeted for 15% back — still a solid deal. The Discover offer is valid from 6/17/17-7/29/17. Log in to your Discover account and search for Google Express to see if you were targeted. See more details at Doctor of Credit

Note that this could make for some really fantastic deals on items that are rarely discounted. For example, Adorama sells Apple products and DSLRs — half off an iPad or camera is a huge score. There are plenty of other options as well.

Bottom Line

I honestly wasn’t aware that Google Express worked in so many areas now. I had thought they only did same-day delivery in cities — but with the ability to order for 1-3 day delivery from a range of stores, these deals will be applicable to most readers. I’m jealous of those targeted for the Discover deal, but I’ll still do the Groupon for a nice discount on some essentials. Let us know in the comments if you make any particularly good finds at Google Express.

  1. Just used this – worked great! Entered Groupon via Alaska’s Mileage Plan Shopping for 3x miles on the $15. Hope it works. I’ll just have to remember to cancel the Google Express membership before the 90 day free trial expires so I avoid the monthly fee.
