Update: Office Max pulled Gamestop, Darden restaurants, Gap, and Domino’s from this promo.

Office Max / Office Depot are offering $20 off $100 in select third-party gift cards through 12/9/17. You could stack that with the current Amex Offer out for $10 / 1,000 Membership Rewards points back on $50 or more to save big on a number of popular gift cards.

Quick Thoughts

At $80 for $100 in gift cards, many of these are good discounts if you’re buying for personal use. If you are able to pair it with the current Amex Offer that’s good for $10 or 1,000 points back on $50 (depending on your offer), all the better.

I’m not sure whether or not the store will allow you to split tender, but if they do and you use two offers, you’d be saving $40 total on every $100, which would be an excellent deal. I imagine that many locations will sell out of the most popular cards quickly, especially Gamestop as those have the highest resale value and with Cyber Monday coming tomorrow they may come in handy for those still doing holiday shopping.

  1. I’d advise against suggesting the split tender with two amex offers. Since you get the 20 off 100 in gift cards instantly, only one of the “spend 50 get 10” offers would trigger or worse off, none as $80 in spend, not $100 is communicated to amex (assuming you blindly did 40 on each card).
