Did you know about the Hyatt family rate?

A reader commented on a post over the weekend with a piece of information that was news to me: Hyatt offers a family plan rate that includes up to 50% off a second room when you reserve a second room for children 18 years old or under. What’s more, our reader claimed it could be applied to rates like AAA — and this appears to be true. Unfortunately, you won’t earn Hyatt points on the 2nd room, but you will still…

Up to 1.67 cents per point value from ThankYou points

The Citi ThankYou Rewards program is weird, but in a good way — sort-of.  If you have multiple ThankYou cards, you can keep your points separate by card or you can pool your points together.  Chase, on the other hand, keeps all Ultimate Rewards points separate by card, but they let you freely move points from one card to another.  Amex works the opposite way: all Membership Rewards points are automatically pooled together. With both…

Should you book Prestige 4th Night Free online?

Now that the Citi Prestige card has turned into a bit of a turkey through the loss of AA Admiral’s Club access, less valuable points, no more free golf, etc., I thought it was worth taking a second look at the key benefit that’s still somewhat intact: 4th Night Free hotel bookings. Citi has changed this benefit in a few ways.  First, the 4th Night Free no longer includes room taxes and fees.  Second, the…

St. Pancras Renaissance Junior Suite. Wow!

I recently stayed with my wife and son at the St. Pancras Renaissance London in a gorgeous Junior Suite.  Suites are located in the elegant Chambers wing of the hotel, which is a huge step up from the modern Barlow wing.  And, all Chambers wing rooms have access to the awesome Chambers Club lounge (which I reviewed previously, here). Chambers Suites usually cost at least 500 GBP per night (over $600, depending upon the current…

The awesome St. Pancras Renaissance Chambers Club

St Pancras is a gorgeous London building that hosts a hotel (St. Pancras Renaissance, which is a Marriott property), residences, and a major train station (this is the home of the Eurostar, for example).  The hotel consists of two separate wings: the modern Barlow wing and the opulent Chambers wing.  The Chambers Club is a lounge within the Chambers wing. Access: Platinum, but not Gold All guests staying in the Chambers wing get free access…

Borrowing Hyatt top tier status: Experimenting with two approaches

My wife, son, and I recently returned from a four night stay at the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht hotel.  It was great.  It’s a great hotel in a fantastic location.  We had to book two rooms for our stay.  Regular rooms only accommodate two people and there were no regular suites available that could be booked with points or with upgrade instruments.  And the suites that were available were far more expensive than two regular rooms. …

Huge hotel discount with T-Mobile Tuesday

Today’s T-Mobile Tuesday giveaways include a discount at HotelStorm that is showing some huge value on certain properties/dates. My first search showed an example hotel that is $200 less than the next best price for a single-night, refundable rate. This one is worth a look. The Deal Huge discounts through HotelStorm and T-Mobile Tuesday (advertised as 25% off or more, and I’ve definitely found more than 25%) Key Terms Must be a T-Mobile customer Must “claim” the…

Citi Prestige 4th Night Free

I’m currently in Amsterdam enjoying the tail end of a recent Citi Prestige 4 Night Free booking at the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht (which I’ll review in a future post).  And last night (my time), Nick covered the breaking news about the Citi Prestige card: Benefit changes and a new 75K signup offer have been confirmed.  And he shared our concern about the new ability to book 4th Night Free stays online: Did the Prestige card…

Fine Hotels & Resorts: Vermont

My wife’s birthday was a couple of weeks ago. Almost a year ago, I made some reservations and planned a surprise birthday trip that I knew she’d love. Then, in November, an incredible quick deal got posted here at Frequent Miler: the Four Seasons Palo Alto in California for just $35 per night. It turned out that the Friday after her birthday could be booked through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts for just $35. This was an incredible deal…
