Sam’s Club is offering a one-day sale today, 11/9/19. If you’re shopping for merchandise, there are excellent shopping portal payouts: get 10x Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles or 10x United Mileage Plus miles per dollar on purchases (though note there are quite a few exclusions). Stack that with the Amex offer for an additional 4x at Sam’s Club if you have that offer available and you’ve got a fantastic return on spend. Unfortunately, the terms on those payouts exclude gift card purchases. I don’t know whether or not that is actually enforced, but with some gift cards available for as much as 30% off face value, it might be worth clicking through and hoping for the best.
- The Alaska and United airlines shopping portals are both offering 10 miles per dollar today for Samsclub.com purchases
- Separately, Sam’s Club is offering up to 30% off on some gift cards. Note that shopping portals exclude gift card purchases, but it’s probably worth clicking through one just in case it tracks Here are links to some popular gift card deals (our affiliate links)
- Sam’s Club is also offering a large one day sale. Here’s a link to the full sale
- Note the following exclusions on the Alaska and United shopping portals: Not eligible on Sam’s Club membership renewals, Travel, Sam’s Club Pharmacy, in-store pick up (Click ‘n’ Pull), any merchandise or service listed under the “Member Services” and “Auctions” sections within SamsClub.com including, but not limited to Business Stationery, Cell Phone Plans, Check Printing, Optical, and Photo. Not eligible on movie tickets, event packages and passes, Google Play packages, tires, custom seat covers, KinKades, select flowers, computers, laptops, jewelry, candy, snacks, business, health and beauty aids, pet supplies, laundry & home care, OTC and paper goods. Not eligible on items purchased via Scan and GO for Android and iOS or items purchased through Sam Club’s mobile app. Not eligible on purchases made on Walmart.com. Not eligible on orders deemed by Sam’s Club to be for reselling purposes and high volume orders. Any return, exchange or other adjustment made at a physical store location for an on-line purchase may result in your purchase being deemed ineligible. Not eligible on taxes, shipping, handling, gift-wrapping, rebates, refunds, returns, chargebacks, or cancellations. Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on [the shopping portal] site. Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents
Earning 10 miles per dollar on Sam’s Club purchases is a great deal if they have stuff you need at a price you like. With the 1-day sale today, there could surely be some nice returns on already-discounted merchandise. If you have purchases to make that are not in the excluded categories, earning 10 miles per dollar is a really solid return, especially if you’re earning Alaska miles. If you’re able to further stack that with an extra 4x in Membership Rewards points (if you have that deal synced), it makes for a fantastic return.
As noted at the top, portal terms exclude gift card purchases. That’s a shame since there are some excellent gift card sales available online at Sam’s Club today, including discounts on iTunes gift cards and many popular restaurants. While the best iTunes discounts are 17%, some restaurant gift cards are as much as 30% off face value, which certainly could make them attractive if you regularly dine at any of the included brands or could use them as a holiday gift.
