Quick Thoughts

Many stores are available today at increased cash back rates. Those look even better if you’re earning Membership Rewards points and you value those points at more than 1x each (you should). If you’re not yet earning Membership Rewards points through Rakuten, remember that it is possible to change your earning preferences.

Those with semi-annual credits to use at Sak’s Fifth Ave or Dell can get 14x today. That certainly sweetens the deal.

Also keep an eye out for opportunities to stack current Amex Offers with this deal. For example, there is a new offer out for Ray-Ban that could be stacked with 14x back.

If you’re shopping online today, it’s worth checking Rakuten. Just don’t forget to use a comparison tool like Cashbackmonitor.com. In some cases, if you prefer earning cash back, you may do better with other portals. For example, TopCashBack is offering 15% back at Dell.

I got 10% Groupon Chase offers yesterday. That might stack well.
