Yesterday, Doctor of Credit reported success getting an Amex retention offer via online chat. Chuck’s Green card annual fee was due and he was offered either $75 or 5,000 points. He took the $75. The interesting thing here isn’t really the offer, but the fact that he got the offer via online chat. I didn’t know that was possible.
I thought this was pretty cool, so I did a quick Google search and found that Points, Miles, and Martinis reported this ability on July 3rd when he was offered $100 to keep his Delta Reserve card. Somehow I missed the earlier news showing that this was possible.

I have a bunch of these Business Platinum cards, starting to come up for renewal now. Anyone getting any good offers to keep these open? I see one option is to product change if they will allow that, or I could keep the card as it’s still the older annual fee ($100 lees) and yet all the same benefits. The $400 Dell, $200 airline and $120 cellphone credits I can maximize and so I still coem out ahead if I keep it. And I suppose they will then offer me yet another one of these to “expand the relationship”.
But it would be nive to get an offeof some extra MR points on top.
Is anyone else in this situation? I know many have a few of these cards but maybe not up for renewals yet.

I got retention on my Delta & Hilton cards – in points rather than $’s but I would say they were worth more that way. Also the size seems to have been based on how much I used each of them (ie my delta offer was much bigger than my hilton offer)

P2 said that she was looking to cancel AmEx Biz Platinum, was given option for either $300 statement credit + 5K MR and 15K MR after $10K spend. So just took the $300 statement credit.
What about the Marriott card. $450 annual fee. Or the Platinum card? Any luck on getting bonuses for these two cards

Rep just told me via chat that retention offers are only available over chat for the Plat Amex, which agrees with what you said about the Bonvoy Brilliant card but contradicts other reports for Green Amex, etc.
I got it for my Hilton via chat so I assume Marriott would work as well.
Does it work the month after you get the Plat? Or do you have to wait a year? I remember getting multiple retention offers on the Citi Prestige when it first came out

Does anyone know how long you have to keep the Delta Amex Reserve after receiving a retention offer before downgrading to prevent the retention offer from being clawed back?
Terms they offered him was 12 months or they may revoke bonus.
