Google Flights improvement: filter by overhead bin access

A reader on Twitter has alerted us that Google Flights has added an awesome new filtering capability that is going to make shopping for flights much less painful for those irritated by basic economy and low-cost-carriers that display prices that don’t include a carry-on bag: a flighter to show flights that include overhead bin access. It looks like it works really well — even knowing to include the carry-on fee for Spirit so that you can compare…

Crazy: 90,000 Avios for $183 (too good to last)

German blog You Have Been Upgraded has written about an incredible promotion being offered by Iberia. I’ll note at the outset that this one is far too generous to last the way it is written. I suggest taking screen shots of everything and only getting involved if you can live with the fact that it’s a gamble. I also suggest reading the full post and understanding the 7 key things laid out at the bottom. That…

Aeroplan newest transfer partner for Arrival Premier

amex offers

Barclays has added a new transfer partner for the Arrival Premier: Aeroplan. This is an interesting addition, and probably not in the way that Barclays would have hoped. Considering the fact that Aeroplan will cease to be the loyalty program of Air Canada in 2020, and there are cards that earn more Aeroplan miles with a lower fee on the market, adding Aeroplan as a transfer partner isn’t much of an improvement. However, on the bright…

Which airlines are best for Marriott Travel Packages?

Yesterday, Greg wrote about the potential for a huge win with Marriott Travel Packages. Of course, we don’t know that there will be a huge win — it’s just potential. Still, I know many readers are probably looking at these packages and wondering which airlines are the best transfer partners. While United offers the most miles at 132K with the largest (best-value) packages, they don’t necessarily offer the best value in terms of award pricing.…

Cheap ways to get to AC for those status matches

Earlier today, I wrote about how you can status match your way around Atlantic City right now and also (potentially) pick up some free Hyatt elite qualifying nights in Las Vegas / Atlantic City (See: Why it might make sense to roll the dice on status matching). I noted that for those within driving distance, it might be worth a mattress run. For those within the distance of a bus ride of Atlantic City, you…

Fly away Tuesday: $291 to London from SFO, $463 to Bali from LA

There are a couple of great flight deals going from the west coast today. As is always the case, these prices were accurate at the time of writing, but fares can change with the wind and vary tremendously from day to day. If you click through and don’t see the same prices, try adjusting dates. If you’re still unable to find the fare you’re after, there is a good chance that fares have changed. Here…
