Changing cards and an interesting twist (or two)

This week at Frequent Miler kicked off with a post about a simple product change that raised a lot of questions. By the end of the week, we bought it full circle and (hopefully) answered your questions. Read on to recap this week’s Frequent Miler week in review.

Switch to Ink Cash online

Over time, your needs change, and so will the type of credit card you prefer. When the annual fee comes due, you should consider whether or not a particular card continues to meet those needs. There are usually three options: keep it, cancel it, or product change to something else. Product changing can be a surprisingly easy process — to find out how easy it was for Greg to change an Ink Plus to an Ink Cash, see this post.

Paying business expenses with credit cards

If you are an employer, you have probably wondered whether or not you can earn rewards for paying your employees. The good news is that there are ways to do it — and here Greg covers an option using Plastiq. But check the comments, as the plot thickens — apparently Plastiq has a minimum amount for payroll. Turns out Greg would have to give me a small raise to make it work. If any readers try this out, let us know your experiences.

3 Lessons from my f-ed up stack

I’m pretty confident that over the years, Greg has stacked more savings than I’ve got in my IRA. But you can’t win ’em all. In a twist that few could have predicted, Greg stacked boo-boos instead of savings on the pictured grill. We’ve all been there before — read on so you can avoid repeating the same mistakes (because nobody wants to pay $400 for a $400 grill, right?).

Singapore KrisFlyer: 6 things I love and 3 things I don’t

Singapore KrisFlyer is a great frequent flyer program. Cheaper award prices on United to Hawaii or domestic first, no close-in fees, and great access to Singapore Airlines first and business class — not to mention 1 mile per mile flown on most United Airlines flights makes this the place to credit United economy class flights. All that and a currency that is super easy to accumulate en masse through sign up bonuses? Awesome.

Ultimate Rewards Questions Answered

Monday’s post about product changing from the Ink Plus to Ink Cash generated a lot of questions and discussion. In this post, we give you an overview of the ins and outs of Ultimate Rewards — from which cards you can change between to whether or not you can get the bonus for a second business — get the FAQs here.

That’s it for this week here at Frequent Miler. Check back soon for our our highlights from around the web and this week’s last chance deals.
