Hawaii’s governor David Ige announced that Hawaii will open to tourism on October 15th, 2020. I know we’ve heard it before, but this time, there’s a chart (see above). The plan is pretty simple: To avoid having to quarantine, you must take a test within 72 hours of arrival. If your test results aren’t in by the time you arrive, you must quarantine until you get the results. If the results are negative then you’re free to move about the island.
This is great news for people hoping to take advantage of United’s new flights to Hawaii or really for anyone itching for travel. I’m especially excited because I love Hawaii and I’m dreading Michigan’s winter more than ever. Hawaii would be a great escape.
For those interested in staying at a Hyatt property, the timing works well for taking advantage of Hyatt’s many overlapping promotions. Those looking for extreme luxury may be interested too in the fact that the Grand Hyatt Kauai made my list of the most incredible Hyatt suites bookable with points. Nick thought it was pretty great too.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai last year. It is a beautiful property and the staff was great, but I felt like it was desperately in need of a renovation.

Just a guess that right now Nick is simultaneously on hold with Turkish airlines while writing emails to the Miles&Smiles program in an effort to secure multiple business class tickets to Hawaii on United metal.
