The St. Regis Maldives is offering both complimentary breakfast and dinner on award stays in May 2020. May is in the rainy season, and the Internet tells me that means that the islands that make up the Maldives therefore see an average of 15 days with some rainfall during the month, so it may not be the ideal time visit. On the other hand, if you’re willing to roll the dice, it’s certainly possible that you’ll see some sunshine during your stay and you would stand to potentially save a good chunk of change if you’re willing to dine on their set menu in the evenings. Check the rate details before you book as I imagine this promo is subject to change at any time.

The Deal

  • Get complimentary breakfast and dinner at the St. Regis Maldives on award stays during May 2020
  • Note that you should check the “rate details” on an award search as this promo could get pulled at any time

Key Details

  • Be sure to check the rate details before you book to make sure you see the note about complimentary breakfast and dinner
  • Only available for award stays during May 2020 (or on cash stays with promo code ES1, but those rates aren’t good)

Quick Thoughts

Again, this isn’t the best time of year to visit the Maldives, but the savings would likely be significant. I haven’t stayed at the St. Regis Maldives, but I would expect it to be a bit more expensive than the meals at the St. Regis Bora Bora, where I found most entrees to be around $35-$45 or more (with some restaurants easily costing more like $150 per person for dinner) and cocktails / glasses of wine to be in the $20’s and up. I imagine most couples would stand to save well over a hundred bucks a night over (maybe more depending on how extensive the included meals are).

Note that you can also book a cash rate with code ES1 and receive the same half-board deal (free breakfast and dinner) if booking a cash stay, but the rates seem unreasonably high with that code.

When booking an award stay, be sure to check the link that says “rate details” in the search results to be sure that you see this note indicating that the promo is still valid when you book.

As you can see, the rate details indicate that you’ll get complimentary breakfast and dinner on point reservations during the month of May, though dinner will be a set menu.

Keep in mind that the St. Regis Maldives standard rooms range between 70K-85K per night during the month of May and the 5th night is free on an award stay. Thus, you could potentially stay for five nights for as few as 280K Marriott points depending on your dates and availability. Also keep in mind the expensive sea plane transfer of $695 per guest 12 and over or $399 per guest ages 2-11.

However, if you’re looking to check the Maldives off your bucket list, this will ease some of the sting. If you were to stay for five nights, you would certainly save at least the cost of the sea plane transfer in meals, which isn’t insignificant.

I booked for May 2020 few months ago with points + nonrefundable cash upgrade to OWV. When I go into my reservation it says
“Additional Information
During the month of May, all point reservations will enjoy
complimentary breakfast and dinner. Dinner will be set menu in
selected restaurants. Book now and stay half board at best
address in Maldives.”
Am I good to go or should I call and confirm?

[…] (Tip of the hat to Frequent Miler) […]

[…] St. Regis Maldives redemptions come with breakfast and dinner in May this is the start of rainy season, sometimes the heavy rains don’t come until June, I did once roll the dice (to coincide with a friend’s 40th birthday) and lost. Still, amazing hotel where food is very pricey so this is a potential big savings. Check rate details when you book, because it’s possible the offer could get pulled. […]

All those ‘keep in mind’ are why we do not find a Maldives points vacation appealing.

If you do decide to go, I suggest walking the island of Male. We found the offices of Dr Usama Bin Laden. Srsly.

A day to rest and walk the island is a great recommendation, then head to some resort.

If you enjoy boredom, the Maldives is for you. If I want to unwind I can do it less than 9000 miles away in a place that doesn’t execute women for premarital sex.

Just remember the food in most Maldives resorts is not good and a set menu could be really lousy if you have no choices. My friend stayed here last year and said the food was bad. My stays at two other nice Maldives resorts was the same poor culinary experience.

That is simple nonsense and your friend is lying or nuts. My wife and I just stayed in September and the food was absolutely amazing in every single restaurant we ate at. The breakfast was the biggest and best spread of food i’ve ever encountered. That includes the Hyatt Paris Vendome. If this deal includes the breakfast buffet and dinner it is an absolute steal. Dinner costs at least $150 per night before ordering wine. The wine is extremely expensive with the cheapest bottles costing around $100. September is also rainy season and we got lucky and had beautiful weather so I would jump on this deal if you want to go to the Maldives and can visit during this promotion. Check booking on Qatar airlines with AA miles. We were able to book a QSuite from NY and it was heaven. This deal is so good i’m thinking of going again in May lol. I miss my butler….
