Free hotel club membership & chance to win $250 credit

Club 1 Hotels bills itself as a global luxury hotel club providing “wholesale rates” for mid-tier to high-end hotels and resorts. They tend to list competitive rates for nice hotels, and they even have what looks like a solid best rate guarantee policy. Normally, a membership to the site is a paid subscription. However, they reached out to us to offer Frequent Miler readers a free 30-day membership and a chance to win $250 in booking credit (expires…

IHG Priceless Surprises on track for more than 40K points despite hiccup

IHG Priceless Surprises

In November I wrote about an opportunity to earn tens of thousands of IHG points by filling out and mailing in 3X5 cards to enter the “IHG Priceless Surprises” contest: More than 40,000 IHG points for more than $46 and a cramped hand.  Since then, many people have sent in cards.  Not surprisingly, it has taken a while to get responses from those mailings.  However, those who did receive email responses all “won” 500 points…

42 Winners!

On Friday I posted an “e-giveaway” contest (see “The Frequent Miler end of year e-giveaway! (with 40 prizes!)“) with, at the time, 40 prizes up for grabs.  Thanks to some new Award Wallet users who used my link, though, I was able to add two more Award Wallet upgrades to the prize list, which is pretty cool considering the significance of the number 42 (you know… life, the universe, and everything… yes, I’m a geek). …

Nook Color Winner Decided

Well, the interminable fun “Write a Book, Win a Nook” contest has come to a close.  Here are the results: 1,697 lines were added to the story.  Almost all qualified as legitimate contest entries. 462,512 people died in the story.  Most exploded. Gary Steiger, who runs the FreeFrequentFlyerMiles website was eaten.  Apparently he was yummy. Everyone who died was reincarnated… several times. Everyone is now a flesh eating zombie.  Alas. Frequent Miler finally returned home…

Evening News

Hotel Award Nights Oops This morning’s post about when to use points for hotel award nights has some kinks I’m trying to work out.  Ric of Loyalty Traveler pointed out that I had initially set the bar too high for Hilton HHonors.  I agreed with him and went ahead and adjusted the Hilton formula.  Since then I’ve also looked deeper into Club Carlson and found that it’s quite rare to get the Fair Trading Price…

An alliance fights the forces of evil.

The contest to Win a Nook is now in the home stretch. Until Tuesday (Feb 14th), all you have to do to enter is add a single line to the ever growing story and become one its many authors.  Since I last gave an update, here is what has gone on in the Nook story contest: There has been an uprising – a mighty clash between authors!  A few, on the dark side, have taken…
