Priority Pass losing Alaska lounges at Seattle Tacoma

priority pass

Priority Pass announced today that the Alaska Airlines lounges at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport are leaving the program. This means that effective September 1st, 2018, Priority Pass holders will no longer be able to access the Alaska lounges at SEA airport. It’s disappointing to lose lounges, but it was probably more disappointing for members to get turned away every day as I’ve read has long been the case at SEA. I did manage to slip into one of the Seattle…

Ritz Card: Act now for free airport lounge access for friends and family

Recently, I signed up for the Ritz-Carlton card.  Even though I’ve recommended getting it before August to lock in the new Marriott/SPG Platinum Elite status, that wasn’t why I signed up for it. The real reason was for the signup bonus of two free Tier 1-4 nights.  Tier 4 properties currently cost 60,000 points per night.  And when the Marriott/SPG/Ritz programs merge in August, all properties will be bookable for 60,000 points per night or…

Bobby Van’s JFK Priority Pass restaurant: worth a visit

Bobby Van’s at JFK’s Terminal 8 is a Priority Pass restaurant. That means that Priority Pass members can present their card and receive $28 per person towards food & drinks. This morning, Greg wrote about some Citi Prestige hidden benefits (see: Citi Prestige: Weird but valuable benefits); one of the not-so-hidden benefits of premium cards like the Prestige is Priority Pass access, which typically includes guest privileges on premium cards like the Prestige. I recently flew…

JFK restaurant now taking Priority Pass

Over the past year or so, Priority Pass has added partnerships with a number of airport restaurants, where you can now get a dining credit of ~$28-$30 at a number of participating restaurants (amount of credit depends on the location/currency). The newest addition is at New York’s JFK Airport, and that will no doubt make it pretty popular. Unfortunately for domestic travelers, it is located in an international terminal, but for those traveling from Terminal 8 and looking for…

Alaska allowing guests again with Priority Pass

Back in May, Alaska airlines stopped allowing Priority Pass holders to bring guests into its Boardroom lounges (and access even for primary cardholders was often being restricted due to space constraints). However, effective yesterday, access has been expanded and Priority Pass holders are now permitted to bring two guests into Boardroom locations in Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles. Of course, lounges could (and probably will) still be capacity-controlled. However, this change is obviously a net positive…

Traveling to FTU Minneapolis? Check out the MSP Escape Lounge

If you’re heading to Minnesota this weekend for FTU Minneapolis (and you should — Greg and I will be there and look forward to meeting you!) and you have a Priority Pass, you’ll have your last chance to enjoy the MSP Escape Lounge unless you are also an Amex Platinum (business or personal) or Centurion card holder. As of June 14th, this lounge will be leaving the Priority Pass network in favor of an exclusive…

Improved Priority Pass already rolling out with Amex Platinum

In the excitement disappointment over the new Amex Platinum card benefits, one new key benefit has slipped in with little fanfare: an improvement in the Amex Platinum Priority Pass offering. Priority Pass covers a network of airport lounges around the world — currently more than 1,000 lounges in 500 cities across 130 countries. Many of the lounges in the network are independent, but some airline-specific lounges accept Priority Pass (like Alaska Boardroom locations and the Virgin America…
