Complete Guide to Travel Companion Tickets

If you ever travel with others, companion tickets offer the possibility of saving a lot of money or points for the second passenger. This guide describes each companion ticket option available. Since last publication, this guide has been updated with Aer Lingus, AA, Iberia, and Virgin Atlantic companion options.  We have also added additional information about the credit cards needed for each companion ticket.

Please let us know of companion ticket options that we missed, and/or any information about these tickets that we left out or got wrong. Thanks in advance!

I tried to book a Delta companion ticket last night r/t PHL – SJC the first week of May and no eligible fare classes were available. I’ve had the platinum AMEX card for 15 years and this is the first time I’ve run into this problem. Is Delta (more) limiting the number of seats available for this benefit?
