OK to get the same card & bonus again, even if you still have the previous card open. Consumer card applications: Limit 2 per rolling 2 months, 3 per rolling 12 months, and 4 per rolling 24 months. Hard inquiries are usually combined into 1 when initiated within 30 days but there have been reports of TransUnion not combining.  YMMV. BOA appears to be enforcing a 5 personal card limit

My wife and I each have one and all the perks they give you annually are pretty suite! Food credits, room upgrades, suite upgrades, 3rd night free plus an annual free night for 12k spend. Their programs management is highly inefficient so be prepared.

Can you get the CitiBusiness AAdvantage World MasterCard if you don’t have a business? Also, the Citi Platinum Select links are both broken.

Nick Reyes
Editor

You should have a business to open a business credit card. That said, not all businesses are huge corporations. Some are as simple as a person who buys and sells things on eBay or Craigslist now and then. The important thing is to be honest in your application.

And thank you for noting that the links were broken. They’re fixed now. I appreciate the heads up!

Does the 50% Airline Bonus for the AMEX Business Platinum card apply to economy international tickets purchased through, for example, my designated airline of American Airlines, for flights on non-American metal such as British Airways? My home airport is BOS and I fly often to Europe. I’m trying to decide on the best choice for my AMEX designated airline. I only occasionally travel in any premium class. Do you have any suggestions?

Fixed the link for the Case Ritz-Carlton Visa to include an active offer without a landing page that should yield 3 free nights. Also updated the Citi Thank You Preferred offer yesterday to include a link for a 15,000 ThankYou Point sign-up offer that does not include the 24-month language.

The AMEX Green Card offer seems to be gone, can you confirm and update with a good link?

Thank you for pointing this out! We’ve removed the card. It may still be possible to find a 25K offer, but we haven’t been able to replicate it.

Your link for the Chase Ritz-Carlton card with 3 night bonus offer appears to be dead. The page now simply displays: “Offer Unavailable. The information you requested is no longer available.”

Thank you for bringing that to my attention! It’s been updated.

The link for the AmTrak 15,000 point bonus seems to be dead. It brings you to a page that says “System Unavailable We’re sorry for any inconvenience, but the system is currently down. Please try again later.”

After trying the link in various browsers and incognito/private windows it appears that the Citi Prestige offer is now only showing 40K TYP after $4K spend.

Any updates on whether the Avianca lifemiles offer actually works? I had heard a few weeks ago that people were not necessary getting their 60k miles. Didnt want to drop the $149 annual fee if so.

Also does the Citi AA 50K offer ** really** work even if you’ve had a Citi AA card within the last 24 months? I am 12 months out from closing my last AA card and would love to use that link.

TomT

I can confirm that both my wife and I received our 60,000 Avianca miles last week, and we also each earned 60,000 AA miles from our second city cards a couple weeks

Greg,

I was just forwarding your link for the Schwab Amex Platinum to a friend of mine and noticed that your perks include one free AU. I haven’t seen that anywhere, and in a chat with AMEX they said it is the normal up to 3 for $175 deal.

Can you offer me any insight into how to get that first AU free?

Was just searching for confirmation of the same thing… couldn’t find anything regarding AUs at all on the application as far as whether any were free or even if they were $175.

March 1, 2017: Today I received AMEX Blue Cash Preferred $250 statement credit after $1000 spend via Firefox private/incognito. Applied and approved immediately. So the $250 credit (without the 10% restaurant category) IS still possible.

I just called into Merrill’s credit card application line at 866-751-1257, and the rep confirmed that the 50,000 point bonus is still available for new phone applications. I did not submit anything since I want to call on a weekday when the reconsideration line will be open.

Hi Nick. I just put $48,000 on my Amex business at 1.5x’s the normal points. Any way you can see a way to double dip? Or if not, is there a better option for a card to transfer balance to? Just made purchase yesterday. Thanks for your thoughts.

Ken

It depends. What did you purchase?

Nick Reyes

I’m sorry I never responded Alfred — somehow your message slipped past me. I’m not sure what you meant about double dipping. As I understand it, you charged $48,000 to your card. Now you have to pay it off. The nice thing is that you earned 72,000 Membership Rewards points. That’s a nice haul.

If you still have a question, let me know and I’ll do the best I can to answer it. I’ll keep my eye out — sorry again for the slow response.

I have just been offered 10,000 MR points on my personal Amex Platinum card if I enroll in their Extended Pay Option. It doesn’t say, but I am guessing this will involve a credit inquiry. I don’t care about the extended pay option itself, just wondering if this is a free 10,000 points as they say or their is the cost of a credit pull.

What do you think? I don’t think 10,000 MR points is worth a hard pull.

FYI, as of March 2017, CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard is currently 30,000 point for $1,000 in 3 months.

Nick Reyes
Editor

Thanks for commenting. Our link was working when I added it on 3/16, but it seems that all links without 24-month language have died for the moment.

However, I have updated it with a new link for 50,000 points after $3,000 in purchases. This link DOES have 24-month language, so you will NOT be eligible for the bonus if you have opened or closed it in the past 24 months.

Thanks again for bringing it to my attention!

Is the Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World MasterCard 50k offer no longer available? The link just goes to another page on this site. And that page just has a link to creditcards.com which only shows 30k miles after $1000 in purchases.

Nick Reyes
Editor

Thank you for commenting! I’ve fixed the link — it now takes you to a 50k offer. Note that this offer includes 24 month language — you will not be eligible if you have opened or closed a Citi AAdvantage card in the past 24 months. Thanks again, Eric!

I think you need to update the annual fee on all Amex Platinum personal cards to $550 as of today. Also, the Charles Schwab Platinum now has a 60,000 point bonus, more than offsetting the increased fee.

Nick Reyes

Thanks, Tom. We’ve made updates on the Charles Schwab, Mercedes-Benz, and Morgan Stanley sign up bonuses (all 60k now) as well as the benefits of those cards and the Ameriprise version to reflect new 5X categories and free Gold card AUs.

Perhaps you can help with a problem:
I applied for an Avianca card through your site on February 6, 2017. Everything went through perfectly, the first statement came and though the statement mentions nothing about the miles, the 60,000+ miles did land in my Lifemiles account immediately.

Then my wife applied also through your site on March but by mistake she put her LifeMiles User ID as the Lifemiles number on the Bank’s application page – the application rejected this as an invalid LifeMiles number and so she blanked it out and applied as thorgh she didn’t have a LifeMiles account and one would be assigned to her.

When her first statement came we checked – and no miles posted. Called the Banco Popular who said the miles were going to the number she had initially tried to use (the user ID) and that we had to call LifeMiules as thet are the only ones who can fix this.

Called LifeMiles (right now I am on the 5th such call). On Tuesday we were promised (by a Sylvia Ruiz) that it would be fixed in 24 to 48 hours by a manager as she was not authorized to do it. Now, 3 days later nobody knows Sylvia, and we are back at square one. They at Lifemiles are saying that the miles are being posted to the correct account (quoting the user ID) as the number. When I explain that there is a completely different number for Lifemiles … get put on hold again. It’s now been 40 minutes, constantly being interrupted to enter the PIN number to continue … Nightmare.

Have you anyone I can contact to get this resolved? The high $149 annual fee has now been posted and no miles. They are saying we should wait but that is just nonsense as my miles posted as soon as the statement was generated. I don’t want to have to cancel the card with no miles earned …

The Wyndham 45k offer appears to be expired. Is that gone or can you find another link to it? Thanks!

Nick Reyes
Editor

Hi Rick — thanks for commenting. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a working link for the 45K offer. I have updated to include both existing versions of the Wyndham card. The annual fee version comes with a 30K sign up bonus (15K after first purchase and 15K after meeting spend) and the no-annual-fee version comes with 15K after first purchase as of this writing. The links above should both take you to a page where you select either the annual fee version on the left of the no-fee version on the right.

About the 100K BA offer from Chase: Any idea how long these offers hang around for? I have a few too many inquiries with Chase (and others) recently – 1 Chase and 3 from other banks since Jan 1st. But I am going away for a month or so at the end of April.

What do you think? I can give up a Chase Marriott (although just paid the annual fee last week) and a couple of Chase bus cards …

I’d love to have this for my European trip coming up.

I used the filter on the BofA small business credit card website and found some cards I hadn’t seen before. For example, you do not list the World Points card: https://www.bankofamerica.com/smallbusiness/credit-cards/products/worldpoints-rewards-business-credit-card/. The site’s filter also seems to indicate that BofA offers Visa and MasterCard versions of almost all of their business cards. Maybe that would allow for even more bonuses.

FYI, just applied by phone for Merrill + card. After I gave her to application code of BAABZK she was asking if the person who referred me was an employee and for a code of some sort. Hi,
Over the years I have pretty much exhausted every once-in-a-lifetime Amex sign-up opportunity there is for both personal and business cards (although my “business” was being a sole proprietor) and am well above 5/24 for Chase.

Now I joined a real legit business that is not a sole proprietorship; if I use its Tax ID (with my own SSN of course)– would this give me a realistic shot at apply for some Chase cards (despite being well over 5/24) or nabbing some Amex business card sign-up bonuses?

Nick Reyes
Editor

No, that will not help in either case. However, there are occasionally targeted Amex and Citi offers that do not include once-in-a-lifetime language / 24 month language — so keep your eye out for those. I never throw away the mail without looking at it. If you’re well over 5/24, the only possibility with Chase for a business card would be a relationship with a BRM (business relationship manager) — which isn’t definite, but is reported to be a possible way to get an Ink card approved via a paper application in-branch that goes through a different system.

Thanks so much for your reply. It was worth a shot.

Nick Reyes
Editor

Yes, it does…though at $27 per visit, it’s not much of a deal. Honestly, you’d be hard pressed to eat and drink $27 worth in most locations unless you have a very long layover. There are some exceptions, but I wouldn’t usually recommend using the Priority Pass that comes with the Surpass card (especially not if you have a PP from the CSR, Prestige, or Platinum cards).

Nick Reyes

And keep in mind that it’s $27 per person per visit — you don’t even get yourself in for free, nevermind guests.

The Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World MasterCard does NOT have a Group 1 boarding perk as stated in your “best of the best” description . American Airlines will board passengers with priority seating first (groups 1 – 4), then those with the Platinum Select AAdvantage card will qualify for group 5 boarding, which is still better than boarding in groups 6 – 9.

YMMV – Got Marvel offer – Got $25 for 1 purchase and an additional $75 for making purchases of $500 in 90 days = $100 for spending $500 in 90 days. Update for being the best offer out there.

Thanks for all the tips! Do you know if you need to be a client of Ameriprise Financial to get the Plat card? We can’t get the Ink or Prestige and we have already had the other Platinum card, so I thought this would be good since we have a few cruises planned and need the insurance.

I see $200 after $1,000 spending for the Amex Blue Cash card by simply using Incognito mode in Chrome. You list the bonus as $150.

Greg,

The 30K Skypass offer seems to be dead, it now only mentions 15K after first purchase, but no mention of the additional 15K after $2K spend.

Thanks. Updated with the current 15K/10K offers.

A couple of interesting US Bank cards you aren’t currently listing:

FlexPerk Select – 10K points and no annual fee:
https://www.usbank.com/credit-cards/flexperks-select-plus-american-express-card.html

AeroMexico cards (signature and non signature versions) – these are particularly interesting for families as they offer fourth-ticket-free benefits:

Is there a working link for VA’s 90K offer?

The Merrill+ card has been ineligible for new applications since after 9/18, so it should be removed from this page. The links to the US Bank Korean SkyPass cards (personal & business) are now only offering 15,000 miles after 1st purchase.

Nick Reyes

Thanks, Tom. Removed the Merrill+ card.

Have you seen a working link to a Skypass business card with 15K after first purchase? I’m only finding 10K after first purchase on the business version (I see 15K offer on the personal card).

TomT

I stand corrected. I also only see the business version as having 10k after 1st purchase. I guess I bounced too quickly between them.

The Merrill+ is still listed at the top under Top Misc Offers

This is a super useful list Nick! Thank you for compiling and maintaining it.

I’m in need of a Business card, so as not to add to my 5/24 count. I’m not sure I know which cards are biz and which are personal. Can I correctly assume that card names that don’t include the word “Business” are personal?

My AMEX Platinum anniversary date is in early December. I want to cancel the card to avoid the $550 annual fee, but does anyone know if I wait to cancel until mid-January (to take advantage of the $200 airline credit) if they will refund me a prorated amount of the fee?

When you say $100 Global Entry reimbursement, will that cover just TSA-Pre instead? I have a relative who wants TSA-Pre and it would probably be quicker to get than Global Entry.

Ken

GE includes Pre.

Frank

I know, but I think TSA-Pre is easier to get quickly.

Doug

Yes, it will cover either one.

“Receive one Global Entry statement credit ($100) or one TSA Prestatement credit ($85) every 4 years for an application fee charged to an eligible American Express® Card.”

Just received an offer from Delta for the AMEX for Delta Platinum for 70,000 miles or the Delta Gold 50,000/60,000 WITHOUT the one-time bonus language. Apply by Nov 8th. A whole lot of language about misuse, etc. but nothing about having had the bonus before. The Gold look much better, no annual fee for 1st year and 60K miles for $3K spend compared to 70K miles for same spend but $195 annual fee – perhaps worth it for those who want the medallion miles.

Anyone else got this?

I pay $10,000 per month linking Plastiq bill pay with my American Express card. Today, casually, Plastiq notified me that two recurring charges will have to be “updated” because Plastiq is not using American Express now.

Wow. 90% of my bills are now in turmoil.

Is there an alternative to Plastiq which has a bill pay relationship with AMEX?

andy

Wow, I haven’t received that notification yet — and I pay my rent on 2 commercial properties via Amex Biz Blue for a similar amount (4500+6500 each month).
They once had me verify the 6500 payment (lease + invoice), but it’s been smooth sailing since.
Hope this isn’t coming my way.

Is this not a working link for the 20k Amex Blue Business Plus card (the list says no sign-up offer)? https://www.americanexpress.com/us/campaigns/small-business/credit-cards/blue-business-plus/index1.html

The US Bank SKYPASS (Korean Airlines) card is now offering a total of 25,000 bonus miles after $2,000 spend on both the personal ($80 fee) and business ($75 fee) versions: http://www.skypassvisa.com/credit/offer.do?redirect=39362&lang=en. It also has a 5,000 miles refer a friend bonus, so if you are in 2-player mode, you can get 30,000 miles on one of them. Offer expires 12/31/2017.

I currently have an open IHG mastercard for which I received the sign up bonus about 3 years ago. I have kept it open for the annual anniversary night. Can I sign up for a new card and get the sign up bonus, or do I need to close the account first? If so, does it have to be closed for a certain time, before I am eligible for another sign up bonus? Thanks.

Nick Reyes

You need to close it first. Conventional wisdom is to wait 14 days before reapplying. Some people have done it sooner without a problem, others have had an old account reopened (and thus no bonus). I’d wait at least the 2 full weeks.

I sent an email to you attaching it to the close AmEx Delta Gold card now expired about the new Delta 75k SkyMile points with no “Previously held Delta” cards; thought you might miss my comment since the 50k offer now ended so the thread is dead.

TomT

Why aren’t you updating the publicly available Korean SKYPASS personal card offer to show 25,000 miles, as I reported back on 11/5?

TomT

Barclay Hawaiian personal card is now 50k miles with $3k spend: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/Landing.action?campaignId=2036&cellNumber=68

Thanks — saw this earlier, but the GoGo WiFi on my flight kept going out. Just got home from FTU a little while ago and was sitting down to make some updates. Thanks again!

Updated ThankYou Premier to a new working 50K link. Added Citi Prestige 40K link.

Nick Reyes

Updated to a working link for the Prestige, but there is no longer a signup bonus.

Delta Reserve Business standard offer now only includes 10K MQMs + 10K bonus miles, so I’ve updated the bonus information. Some people are still targeted for a better offer.

Chase IHG 80k bonus has expired, fallen back to 60k now.
